Shot 09, the fight we couldn't film, and what it taught us about conflict.
Shot 09 was an argument scene the pipeline declined twice — too heated for kids, and the refusals were right. It forced our soft-conflict principle: level voices, disagreement about the plan never the person, resolution on screen. Kids need to see disagreement handled well. I keep the declined prompts as proof: the machine refused, and the machine was right. When has a tool's refusal improved your work?

Episode 04 needed an argument scene — shot 09, two characters disagreeing. The video pipeline declined it twice. Not a technical failure; the scene as prompted kept coming back too heated for a kids' show, and the refusals were correct. So we faced the real question: how do two characters disagree when nobody is allowed to be scary? The answer became a production principle — soft conflict. Voices stay level, the disagreement is about the plan and never about the person, and the resolution is visible on screen, not implied. Kids don't need to see people be cruel to understand that people disagree. They need to see disagreement handled well, because that's the skill they're actually building. The gap in the episode stayed open for a while — shots 1–8 and 10–12 published, 09 pending. A hole in the season, holding the place of a lesson. We filled it with a softer visual eventually, but I keep the declined prompts in the file as a reminder: the machine refused, and the machine was right. When has a tool's refusal improved your work?
