A two-word bug that broke twelve video shots.
Episode 03, shots 7–12 came back landscape on a vertical series. The prompts file said "all clips are vertical" — in the header note. Headers don't propagate; each shot needed "Vertical 9:16" inline. The lesson: in AI pipelines, context doesn't inherit. Every unit of work needs its critical constraints stated locally, redundantly — I treat every prompt like a function with no closure. Six re-renders: cheap tuition. What's the priciest inherited-context assumption you've paid for?

Episode 03, batch 2 — shots 7 through 12. They came back landscape, 1216x624, on a vertical 720x1280 series. The prompts file had "all clips are vertical" in the header note. The header didn't propagate. Each individual shot prompt needed the literal words "Vertical 9:16" inline, and batch 1 had them because I'd written them by hand, shot by shot. That's the whole lesson, and it's not about video: in AI pipelines, context doesn't inherit. Headers, system prompts, "as we discussed" — none of it carries the way you assume. Every unit of work needs its critical constraints stated locally, redundantly, in its own words. I now treat every prompt like a function with no closure over anything. Explicit inputs, explicit outputs. It cost me a re-render of six shots. Cheap tuition. What's the most expensive assumption of inherited context you've paid for?
